Some of our favourite toppings include:
- a dollop of whipped cream
- plain marshmallows, any size, including large or mini marshmallows
- chocolate chips, or other flavoured chips, such as white chocolate chips and peanut butter chips
- sprinkles
- caramel sauce
- maple syrup
- a peppermint candy cane stir stick
- peppermint crunch marshmallows (see below)
Peppermint Crunch Marshmallows
- Crush 3 peppermint candy canes using a mortar and pestle, or a food processor.
- Cut marshmallows in half.
- Dip the sticky end of the marshmallow half into the crushed candy cane pieces.
- Float the pieces in your hot chocolate, peppermint crunch side up.
NOTE:
The peppermint candy cane stir stick, as well as the peppermint crunch marshmallows will not make the hot chocolate minty. It will just add that extra touch of mint, if you want it.
