Storing Dahlias Over Winter

Dahlias are absolutely beautiful, and I can’t ever imagine being without them.

However it is quite an arduous task when it comes to digging up dahlia tubers at the end of the season.

Once the tubers are dug, it's time to prepare them for storage.

You don't have to process the tubers right away, just don't leave them in freezing cold temperatures.

Dahlia tubers are most often cleaned and processed before they are stored away for the winter.

There are a few different ways to store the dahlia tubers.

Store the tubers in:

-peat moss

-sawdust or wood shavings

-slightly moist vermiculite

-wrapped in plastic wrap

-or even wrapped in newspaper
